A storytelling project to empower the next generation

Every story has power.

Sometimes, sharing even a small part of our experiences can help someone else see things more clearly, recognise their own worth, or find courage they didn’t know they had.

Share it Forward is a safe, anonymised storytelling project designed to give neurodiverse individuals — and those who care for or support them — a chance to share reflections and lessons from moments of vulnerability, learning, or personal growth.

By sharing your story, you’re helping us build understanding about how neurodiverse people experience risk, safety, and support in everyday life. Each story becomes part of a growing awareness resource to guide parents, professionals, and, most importantly, young neurodiverse people themselves.

What We’re Asking

We’d love you to share a short, anonymous reflection — it can be just a few sentences — that might help someone else. You might think about things such as:

  • How old you were when this experience happened.

  • How you now see it connecting to your neurodiversity (for example, communication style, sensory needs, or social understanding).

  • What kind of situation or vulnerability you were exposed to — maybe confusion, isolation, peer pressure, or boundaries not being respected. If you are a survivor, and feel ready to share your experiences which led to this, we would really welcome your strength in sharing you vital story.

  • What one piece of advice would you pass forward to help a young neurodiverse person today?

There’s no need to share details or labels — this is about insight, not identification. Every experience, however small, could make a huge difference.

We will then use these completely anonymised stories to share lessons on our website for young people and those who care for them, to help protect them from the harms that so many of us experienced.

Why This Matters

Many neurodiverse young people face situations they don’t fully understand or can’t easily explain. Hearing from others who’ve been there — who can say “I learned this” or “I wish I’d known that” — can help them recognise what safety and respect really look like.

Your reflections could:

  • Help a young person trust their instincts;

  • Encourage adults to listen and respond with understanding; and

  • Strengthen our community’s collective awareness of neurodiverse safety.

Together, we can turn lived experience into education, awareness, and protection.

Sharing Safely

We promise that all stories are:

  • Completely anonymous (no names, places, or identifying details);

  • Reviewed by ND Warriors before publication to ensure safety and sensitivity; and

  • Shared only in ways you approve — we will only share as much as you share with us, and at no point will you be contacted in response for any further information.

This project is not for disclosing immediate unsafe situations. If you’re currently in danger or need immediate help, please reach out to:
